Covered and raising — past the Humira cliff. A 2.4% yield at a 49.5% payout of guided adjusted earnings is covered income with room to raise: $1.73 a quarter, up 5.5% for the dividend payable in February 2026 and held through the September 2026 declaration. Reported GAAP earnings say otherwise — $2.36 a share in 2025 — because amortization and acquired IPR&D charges sit in them, so the House grades coverage on adjusted earnings and free cash flow, and says so. Free cash flow covered the dividend about 1.5× in 2025.
Key risk: Concentration has moved, not disappeared: Skyrizi and Rinvoq were about 42% of 2025 revenue ($25.9 billion of $61.2 billion), and Humira is still eroding — down 49.5% in 2025 and 35.9% in Q2 2026. A patent, pricing or competition hit to the two successors is what would pressure the earnings and cash flow covering the dividend.
Changes if: Skyrizi and Rinvoq growth stalls while Humira erosion continues, pushing the indicated $6.92 a year past roughly 60% of adjusted earnings or leaving free cash flow short of the dividend for a full year. At a 49.5% guided adjusted payout, one soft quarter would not do it.
- ✓Payout-coverage check: 49.5% on an adjusted basis — $6.92 indicated against the $13.97 midpoint of the $13.87–$14.07 full-year 2026 adjusted diluted EPS guide (updated July 31, 2026). Free cash flow agrees for 2025: $17.8 billion after capital expenditures covered $11.7 billion of dividends paid about 1.5×. Reported GAAP EPS was $2.36 in 2025, depressed by amortization and acquired IPR&D — not the basis used here.
- ✓Yield check: 2.4% indicated — $1.73/qtr × 4 ÷ the $285.64 close on Oct. 23, 2026. Real, earned yield for a single stock, with growth attached — no special dividend inflating it.
- ✓Dividend growth check: Raised every year since the 2013 spin-off — up more than 330% since inception, per the company, and a member of the S&P Dividend Aristocrats Index. Latest raise: 5.5%, from $1.64 to $1.73 a quarter, declared Oct. 31, 2025 for the February 2026 payment and held in the Sep. 10, 2026 declaration.
What this grade doesn't say: It screens the dividend only — covered, real, compounding. It says nothing about valuation or price: a well-covered payer can still be overpriced, and its price can still fall.
