Covered — barely, after a cut. A 10.89% yield on the reduced $0.33 quarterly base dividend is covered, but only just: adjusted NII of $0.34 a share in the June 2026 quarter against the $0.33 distribution, about 103% coverage. The board cut the base from $0.39 to $0.33 in early 2026, citing falling rates and tighter spreads, and NAV slipped to $14.25 from $14.35 in the quarter — the House reads a cut plus a thin cushion as a caution, even though the check still clears.
Key risk: Spread compression and credit marks — Golub's one-stop senior-secured book (about 87% of the portfolio) earns less as base rates fall and spreads tighten, and markdowns on underperforming borrowers eat NAV directly.
Changes if: Adjusted NII falls below $0.33, or NAV keeps sliding quarter over quarter. A second cut would confirm the caution; a return to NII comfortably above the base would lift it.
- !Coverage check: Adjusted NII of $0.34 a share in the June 2026 quarter covers the $0.33 distribution by only a cent — about 97% paid out. There is almost no cushion left for a bad quarter.
- !Dividend-cut check: Base cut from $0.39 to $0.33 a quarter in early 2026, with a variable supplemental policy (50% of earnings above the base) replacing the old rate. A cut already happened; the new rate is the one that must now hold.
- !NAV check: NAV per share of $14.25 at June 30, 2026, down from $14.35 the prior quarter and $14.84 at calendar year-end 2025, on net realized and unrealized losses of $0.12 a share in the quarter.
What this grade doesn't say: It screens the dividend only — covered, real, compounding. It says nothing about valuation or price: a well-covered payer can still be overpriced, and its price can still fall.
