House verdict

A variable distribution funded by distributable earnings — covered, but the payout moves with deal realizations. Blackstone pays a variable quarterly distribution tied to distributable earnings, not a fixed regular rate: annual totals were $4.94 in 2022, $3.32 in 2023, $3.45 in 2024 and $4.69 in 2025. Coverage passes on the correct base — third-quarter 2026 distributable earnings of $1.32 a share against the $1.12 dividend declared October 22, 2026, payable November 9, 2026, and fiscal 2025 distributable earnings of $5.57 a share against $4.69 of dividends. A free-cash-flow payout of 132% is the wrong base for an asset manager and is not used. The 4.47% trailing yield is variable by design, and distributable earnings fell 13% year over year in the third quarter — the card is graded warn.

Key risk: Realizations drive the payout — a slow deal market cuts distributable earnings and the distribution with it, as 2023 showed.

Changes if: Distributable earnings stabilize and the distribution holds through a full realizations cycle.

What this grade doesn't say: It screens the dividend only — covered, real, compounding. It says nothing about valuation or price: a well-covered payer can still be overpriced, and its price can still fall.
